Embrace Opportunities in India: Gaurav Bhagat’s Message to Young Aspirants

In a time of uncertainty for Indian students regarding job prospects, entrepreneur and educator Gaurav Bhagat delivers a powerful message: look inward before considering opportunities abroad.

At the RULE 2026 workshop, Bhagat emphasized that India is currently presenting unprecedented opportunities for youth, provided they rethink their approach to career preparation.

He contends that the growing issue of unemployability in India isn't due to a lack of degrees but stems from a lack of readiness for real-world challenges. "Candidates may look good on paper, yet many struggle with practical implementation," he noted, highlighting a significant disconnect between education and workplace demands.

Bhagat pointed out that artificial intelligence will drastically change entry-level positions, replacing many routine tasks. "AI tools can now perform tasks like summarizing documents and analyzing data faster than humans. This shift is already underway," he cautioned, advising students to avoid relying on outdated job expectations.

He criticized educational institutions for discouraging the use of AI tools, stating that such an approach is counterproductive. Instead, he believes students should learn to utilize these tools effectively, enhancing their creativity and problem-solving skills.

Bhagat also warned against the overuse of AI, which could hinder critical thinking and adaptability. "It's essential for parents and educators to strike a balance between guidance and allowing some independence in AI usage," he advised.

One of the significant gaps in the Indian education system, according to Bhagat, is the lack of focus on soft skills such as communication, confidence, and persuasion. "Sales skills are universal, whether or not you label them as such," he remarked, emphasizing the importance of these skills in all aspects of life.

He observed that students from tier-two and tier-three cities exhibit a strong desire to succeed but often lack the confidence and exposure found in metropolitan areas. Bhagat believes that targeted training can bridge this gap.

He offered a reality check to parents investing in private education, stating that there are no guarantees of success, even from prestigious institutions. Bhagat encouraged students to evaluate their education based on skills and adaptability rather than brand names.

As young individuals prepare to enter a competitive job market, differentiation is key. Bhagat urged students to discover their true interests and build a personal brand through various platforms like writing and video content.

Concluding his address, Bhagat reassured young Indians hesitant to seek opportunities abroad, stating, "India is a great place to be. Don't let fear or negativity drive your decisions." He highlighted India's status as one of the fastest-growing economies, encouraging students aged 18 to 23 to seize the moment and believe in the potential of their homeland.
