Healthy Firecracker Chicken Popcorn: A Delicious High-Protein Snack

This dish is ideal for those looking to indulge their cravings without going overboard on calories. Each serving boasts an impressive 38 grams of protein while keeping the calorie count to just 292.
Ingredients for firecracker chicken popcorn:
Chicken:
- 400 g boneless chicken thigh, cut into small cubes
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp pepper powder
- ¾ tsp salt
- 1 egg white
- 2 tbsp cornflour or arrowroot starch
- Oil spray
Firecracker Sauce:
- 1 tbsp light butter
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- ½–1 tsp chili flakes
- ½ tsp chili powder
- Pinch salt & pepper
- 1 tsp honey
- 1–2 tsp mustard sauce
- 3–4 tbsp hot water
Garnish:
- Chopped spring onion
Preparation Method:
- Marinate: Combine chicken with all seasoning ingredients, egg white, and cornflour. Let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Cooking Methods:
- Air fryer: Cook at 200°C for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking halfway, until golden and crispy.
- Oven: Bake at 220°C for 18–22 minutes on a tray, flipping once.
- Firecracker Sauce: Melt butter, sauté garlic briefly, then add chili flakes, chili powder, salt, pepper, honey, mustard, and hot water. Simmer for 1 to 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Toss & Serve: Coat the crispy chicken in the sauce, toss quickly, garnish with spring onion, and serve hot with a garlic yogurt sauce.
Garlic Yogurt Sauce: Mix Greek yogurt, garlic paste, salt, pepper, honey, and chopped spring onion greens, serving as a cooling dip alongside the spicy chicken.
