Discover the Enchantment of Cherry Blossoms Across India This Season

For many, Japan is synonymous with breathtaking cherry blossoms, but India offers its own stunning alternatives. This season, explore the enchanting cherry blossom sights across the country, from the serene hills of Himachal Pradesh to the lush landscapes of Meghalaya.

If witnessing cherry blossoms has long been on your bucket list, you're in luck! Locations such as Almora in Uttarakhand, a charming village in Kullu, and even Surat in Gujarat allow you to experience these floral wonders without leaving India. The best part? The blossoms are currently at their peak!

Dobhi Village, Kullu Valley, Himachal Pradesh

In the picturesque Kullu Valley, the cherry trees bloom sporadically, gracing the orchards with their delicate beauty. Travel blogger Shubham Mansingka describes the scene as "magical," noting that the plum and peach blossoms join the spectacle, creating a breathtaking view.

“We don’t need to go to Japan to enjoy cherry blossoms; they can be found in the hill states,” he explains. The valley comes alive with these flowers, heralding the end of winter. The nearest airport is Kullu-Manali Airport, located about 30 km away.

Kasar Devi, Almora, Uttarakhand

Kasar Devi is lesser-known for its cherry blossoms, featuring wild Himalayan cherry and peach blooms against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks. The best time to visit is between late February and March. Shubham highlights the striking contrast of white plum blossoms against the deep blue sky.

While almond trees add to the beauty, cherry blossoms also make an appearance, creating a whimsical experience. The nearest airport is Pantnagar Airport, approximately 115-120 km away.

Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir

In Srinagar, cherry blossoms bloom from late March to early April, transforming the valley into a pastel paradise. The historic gardens around Dal Lake become a sight to behold, as locals eagerly await this seasonal bloom that symbolizes the arrival of spring.

“Walking through the gardens is a cherished tradition,” shares local Sambhav Chopra. The nearest airport is Srinagar International Airport.

Ladakh

Mid-April to early May marks the blooming of apricot trees in Ladakh, particularly in Leh and Nubra Valley. The Apricot Blossom Festival showcases not only the breathtaking views but also the region's rich culture.

Photographers flock to this area to capture the fleeting beauty of the blossoms. The nearest airport is Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh.

Shillong, Meghalaya

In a unique twist, Shillong hosts an autumn cherry blossom festival, where the trees bloom in November. This festival features music and art amidst the stunning backdrop of cherry blossoms.

Travel creator Aarti Singh describes the surreal experience of walking through the blooming lanes of Upper Shillong, where the rugged hills soften into clouds of pink. The nearest airport is Shillong Airport.
