Behind the Scenes of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna: KJo Shares Emotional Moments
Karan Johar’s 2006 film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna may have received mixed reviews upon its release, but it has since become a cult classic. The film tackled themes of marital infidelity and emotional dissatisfaction, exploring the lives of its characters portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji. They engage in an extramarital affair after years of unfulfilled marriages with their respective spouses, played by Preity Zinta and Abhishek Bachchan.
In a recent discussion, Karan Johar opened up about the emotional challenges faced by the cast during filming. He revealed that Preity Zinta struggled to separate herself from her character's turmoil. KJo recounted a moment where he took her aside for a walk, reminding her, “It’s not Preity Zinta. This is Rhea. It’s happening to her.”
Abhishek Bachchan also found himself deeply affected by the emotional scenes. Karan recalled, “At one point, Abhishek broke down… there were moments when I could just see Rani looking sullen and sad.” The film's exploration of real emotional struggles resonated with the actors, making the filming experience particularly tumultuous.
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, which also featured Amitabh Bachchan and Kirron Kher, marked Karan Johar's third directorial endeavor following Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Karan is set to return to directing with a new film after his latest endeavor, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
