Boman Irani Announces Second Directorial Venture Before His Birthday

As Boman Irani approaches his birthday, he has confirmed that he is in the early stages of his second directorial project. This announcement comes after his successful directorial debut with "The Mehta Boys" at the age of 65.

Irani expressed his desire to explore different genres, stating, "I've made a conscious decision after directing a family drama; I'm going to pick a completely different genre. Just because people liked the first one, I don't think I can stick to the same genre. I want to enjoy different worlds of cinema."

Interestingly, Irani's son, Kayoze, also made his directorial debut in 2025 with the film "Sarzameen," featuring stars like Kajol and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Boman reflected on the challenges of filmmaking, saying, "Life was never meant to be a bed of roses; you can't avoid the hardships. Making a movie is not easy, from writing to casting and budgeting. You put your heart and soul into it, but you also have to accept that not everyone will love what you do."

When asked about his wishlist of actors to work with, Irani mentioned, "There are so many fine actors I want to work with. Directing Mr. Bachchan would really be an experience for posterity; just having the gall to tell him this is the scene and that is how it goes." Alongside his directorial ambitions, he also enjoys teaching aspiring writers in the industry.
