Celebrating Baisakhi 2026: Ravie Dubey and Sargun Mehta Share Their Family Traditions

Actor Ravie Dubey shares that Baisakhi celebrations have become more extravagant since marrying fellow actor Sargun Mehta. While he has always appreciated the festival as a Delhi native, Sargun emphasizes the importance of rooted traditions, making their celebrations vibrant and filled with family and friends.

Ravie describes how Baisakhi is celebrated in Sargun’s family: "They celebrate it grandly. Growing up in Delhi, I was familiar with Punjabi culture, but after marrying Sargun, it’s a whole new experience."

Sargun recalls her childhood Baisakhi memories, starting with a visit to the Gurdwara and enjoying Karah Prashad, followed by food, new clothes, and family gatherings.

On the topic of preparing for Baisakhi, Ravie admits he is indecisive with outfits, often relying on Sargun’s guidance. "I’ve been fully dressed before and she’s told me to change because it was a disaster. I have kurtas from 15 years ago that I still wear comfortably," he shares.

Sargun adds, "Ravie definitely takes longer to choose his outfits, regardless of the occasion."

When asked about their favorite songs for bhangra, Ravie admits he struggles with impromptu dancing, while Sargun prefers tracks from Karan Aujla and Diljit Dosanjh.

Reflecting on the past, Ravie misses the communal spirit of Baisakhi fairs before social media, noting how festivals brought entire communities together.

As they look ahead to 2026, Sargun notes that Baisakhi is a significant day for them, marking a New Year filled with hopes for new beginnings. Ravie, now able to discuss his role in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, mentions that family lunches will now include more conversations about his work.

In a fun rapid-fire segment, the couple chooses between lassi and masala chai, with both agreeing on lassi. When asked who dances better bhangra, they humorously acknowledge Sargun's superior skills. They prefer a grand celebration at their new home over a quiet one, and while they appreciate Punjabi gatherings, they cherish personal celebrations in Mumbai as well.
