Delhi High Court Shocks Music Industry: Orders Honey Singh and Badshah to Remove Controversial Song

The Delhi High Court has made a significant decision regarding the controversial song 'Volume 1' by singer-rappers Honey Singh and Badshah. The court has ordered both artists to remove the song from all social media platforms immediately. The ruling comes after it was determined that the song contains grossly vulgar and derogatory content towards women and societal norms.

In its statement, the court expressed that the lyrics are not only offensive but also aim to normalize the objectification of women. The ruling highlights that allowing such content to circulate, especially with access by minors, cannot be defended under the pretext of artistic freedom.

The court remarked, “This is one of the rare cases where the conscience of the court is shocked to its absolute core. The song is grossly vulgar and derogatory, undermining artistic values and social standards.”

No Civilized Society Can Permit Such Content

The court underscored the necessity of interim measures, stating that no civilized society should allow the dissemination of such material. The artists, along with platforms like Spotify, have been directed to take down any URLs hosting the offending song.

Honey Singh and Badshah, who began their careers as part of the rap group Mafia Mundeer, have faced public disputes in the past. This latest ruling adds to the growing scrutiny of explicit lyrics in music, particularly those that may negatively influence younger audiences.

In a related controversy, Badshah recently faced backlash for his song 'Tateeree', which was criticized for its explicit content. Following public outcry, he issued an apology, stating it was not his intention to offend anyone.
