Delhi University Exam Delays: Question Papers Arrive Late
Delhi University (DU) students experienced significant delays during their examinations as question papers were not delivered on time to multiple centers across the capital.
On Saturday, students arrived for their discipline-specific exams, only to find themselves waiting for hours due to logistical issues. Reports indicate that at least 35 question papers were either missing or delayed.
Abha Dev Habib, an associate professor at Miranda House, noted that some students waited over two hours and many considered leaving without taking their exams. Students in mathematics and physics were particularly affected by these delays.
A principal from a South campus college revealed that exams for 30-70 discipline-specific courses were scheduled, but several question papers did not arrive even after three hours of waiting.
“It was total chaos,” the principal remarked, pointing out that the National Education Policy's four-year undergraduate program has increased the number of exams, overwhelming the system.
In response to the situation, the DU controller of examinations acknowledged that approximately 800 papers were scheduled for the morning session, and due to some logistical issues, a few could not be dispatched in time.
The controller confirmed that the issue was resolved later, and affected students were informed they could appear in subsequent slots for their exams.
Students are advised to check the university's official website for updates regarding rescheduling of affected papers to be held by the second week of January 2026.
The delays highlight ongoing challenges within the DU examination system, particularly as the number of students continues to grow.
