Dhurandhar 2: Strong Violence Rating and Extended Runtime Revealed
Aditya Dhar's much-anticipated film, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has successfully passed through the Irish Censor Board, revealing its strong rating for violence and a lengthy runtime.
The film is set to hit theaters worldwide on March 19, with paid premieres scheduled for the evening of March 18 in India. Starring Ranveer Singh, the sequel has been rated strong for violence, harmful behavior, and language, while receiving a moderate rating for sex and nudity.
According to the Irish Film Classification Office, the film was submitted for censorship by its distributor, Moviegoers, and the review was concluded on March 12. The official runtime is recorded at 235 minutes, making it nearly 4 hours long, surpassing its predecessor, which had a runtime of 3 hours and 34 minutes.
The censor board noted “strong bloody violence and graphic injury detail” in their assessment. The first film, Dhurandhar, was rated 18+ for violence by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).
Dhurandhar 2, like the original, is penned and directed by Aditya Dhar, produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The cast includes notable names like Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan, among others. As the plot unfolds, it will be interesting to see how the narrative develops, especially with Akshaye Khanna's character seemingly absent from the sequel.
The first film was a massive hit, grossing over ₹1300 crore globally, and the sequel appears poised to continue that success, having already garnered over ₹27 crore in India from premiere bookings.
