Dubai's Floating Museum: A New Landmark by Sheikh Mohammed
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has unveiled an ambitious project: the Dubai Museum of Art (DUMA), which will float gracefully above the waters of Dubai Creek. This innovative structure aims to redefine the skyline and establish Dubai as a global hub for modern art and cultural experiences.
DUMA, designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, will feature a unique architecture inspired by natural elements such as water, sky, wind, and light. Its shell-like form symbolizes the city's rich heritage in pearl diving, showcasing a perfect blend of contemporary design and cultural significance.
The museum is set to house five floors of exhibitions, highlighting both established and emerging artists from around the globe. Visitors can expect a comprehensive cultural experience, complete with a library, educational spaces, a café, and stunning viewpoints overlooking Dubai Creek.
Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of this project in enhancing Dubai's artistic landscape and fostering community engagement. He thanked private sector contributors for their role in bringing this visionary landmark to life.
Upon completion, DUMA will join other iconic structures in Dubai, including the Burj Khalifa and the Museum of the Future, further solidifying the city's reputation as a beacon of art and innovation.
