Elle Duncan’s Exciting Transition from ESPN to Netflix with ‘Taipei 101’
Elle Duncan is making waves as she transitions from ESPN to Netflix, embarking on a new journey that promises to showcase her broadcasting versatility.
After nearly a decade at ESPN, where she hosted the 6 p.m. Eastern edition of 'SportsCenter', Duncan was eager for a fresh challenge and a better work-life balance.
Her Netflix debut will be on a special event titled 'Skyscraper Live' on Friday night, where she will host free solo climber Alex Honnold's attempt to scale Taipei 101, the tallest building in Taiwan, without ropes.
Duncan expressed her excitement, stating, “It was everything I had been asking in the universe to help me be a well-rounded broadcaster and to help me be a well-rounded person.”
She left ESPN in December and took her experiences from the network, where collaboration and teamwork were key, into her new role at Netflix.
“When they came to pitch me, they knew exactly who they were getting, bad dad jokes and all,” she noted, emphasizing the importance of storytelling, entertainment, and sports in her new role.
Hosting a high-stakes climb presents different challenges compared to covering NFL games, but Duncan is ready to embrace these new responsibilities.
'Skyscraper Live' will also feature climbing experts and notable personalities, adding to the excitement and drama of the event, which Duncan describes as a unique storytelling experience.
Netflix plans to expand its sports portfolio, with Duncan at the forefront, including upcoming Major League Baseball games and the NFL Christmas Day doubleheader.
Despite her new role, Duncan will still be involved with WNBA coverage, continuing her dynamic broadcasting career.
Her journey reflects her commitment to being not just a versatile broadcaster but also a well-rounded individual, balancing her professional and personal life.
