Empowering Graduates as Architects of Viksit Bharat: Insights from the VP

New Delhi, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan addressed graduates at the 102nd convocation of Delhi University, emphasizing their role as architects of a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. He urged universities to focus on research and innovation that are both rooted in Indian realities and globally competitive.

More than 1.2 lakh degrees were awarded during the ceremony, where over 70% of gold medals were earned by women, showcasing the increasing enrollment of women in higher education.

Radhakrishnan noted that Delhi University has expanded from three colleges and eight departments to 90 colleges, 86 departments, and over 6 lakh students today.

He highlighted the intense competition for admissions, with cut-off marks reaching 98%, and urged the university to aim for higher global rankings. “In the next two years, we should move into the top 300, then 200, and ultimately become the number one university in the world,” he stated.

The Vice President described the convocation as an important transition, reminding graduates that their degrees signify a commitment to both humanity and the nation. He advocated for lifelong learning and encouraged students to make their families and the nation proud.

Radhakrishnan reiterated that graduates must contribute to the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat', driving research and entrepreneurship that can compete globally.

In 2025, degrees were conferred to 120,408 students from various programs, including 750 PhD scholars who received their doctorates, along with 132 gold and silver medals awarded for excellence.
