Exploring Kerala: A Destination for Luxury and Budget Travelers

Kerala stands out as a prime destination that appeals to both luxury and budget travelers, according to insights shared at Yaanam 2025, India’s inaugural travel literary festival held in this coastal town.

Travel documentary filmmaker Priya Ganapathy emphasized that Kerala’s tourism sector has effectively balanced offerings for both segments, enhancing its appeal as a versatile destination. She noted the importance of providing unique experiences through lesser-known attractions that create unforgettable encounters.

Anurag Mallick, another speaker and travel expert, highlighted North Kerala's rich cultural traditions and vibrant rituals, such as Theyyam, which hold significant untapped tourism potential. He stressed the need to bring these festivals and regions into the spotlight to maximize their benefits.

Food expert Karen Anand shared her observations on how travel habits have evolved over the last two decades, with more individuals exploring new destinations. This shift has also led to a surge in travel writing, photography, and video documentation.

Actress and vlogger Anumol added that travel is not solely about visiting new places, but also about connecting with people, understanding their lives, and immersing oneself in diverse experiences.

Dr. Ginu Zachariah Umman, Chairman of the Kerala Food Commission, discussed how the essence of tourism lies in offering authentic and unique experiences to travelers.

During the festival, various sessions highlighted Kerala’s captivating landscapes and rich storytelling potential, reinforcing its position as a brilliant travel destination filled with untold stories.

The festival, organized by Kerala Tourism at Ranga Kala Kendram from October 17-19, gathered leading travel writers, vloggers, and influencers who shared insights on sustainable and inclusive tourism to meet modern travelers' needs.

The theme for the three-day event was 'Celebrating Words and Wanderlust'.
