Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt Arrested for ₹30 Crore IVF Fraud
Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has reportedly been arrested in connection with a significant IVF fraud case involving a scam valued at ₹30 crore.
The arrest occurred following a lookout notice issued by Udaipur Police against Bhatt, his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, and six other individuals. Authorities executed the arrest during a joint operation at his sister-in-law’s residence, with plans to seek a transit remand to transfer Bhatt to Udaipur.
Prior to the arrest, a notice was issued requiring the accused to report to Udaipur Police by December 8 and prohibited them from traveling abroad without permission. The case originated from a complaint filed by Dr. Ajay Murdia, the founder of Indira IVF Hospital, claiming that Bhatt and his associates had defrauded him of ₹30 crore by promising exorbitant returns on investment.
Dr. Murdia initially sought assistance for a biopic project about his late wife. He was introduced to Bhatt through an intermediary, where Bhatt assured him that he would oversee all aspects of the film production.
This case highlights ongoing concerns related to fraudulent schemes in the film industry, with police continuing their investigation into the matter.
