Girls Excel in Punjab’s ‘Shikhya Kranti’, Claim 19 of the Top 20 Ranks in PSEB Class 8 Results
Chandigarh - Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Sunday that Punjab's 'Shikhya Kranti' initiative is yielding remarkable outcomes, with girls from ordinary families dominating the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 8 results by securing 19 out of the top 20 positions.
During a ceremony at his residence to honor the toppers, Mann stated that these outstanding students will receive direct admission to Schools of Eminence without any entrance examination, reinforcing the government's commitment to merit-based education and enhancing access to quality learning.
The Chief Minister awarded the top three achievers a cash prize of ₹50,000 each and encouraged all students to stay humble, work diligently, and select appropriate role models. He emphasized that Punjab's revamped government schools are becoming a national standard in education.
Mann highlighted the determination and discipline shown by these students, reflecting the positive impact of ongoing investments in education. He reaffirmed the Punjab government's dedication to supporting every child's aspirations through modern schools and effective learning environments.
In this year's Class 8 examinations, 2.62 lakh students participated. Mann pointed out that the top 20 students have already proven their abilities and will be admitted to Schools of Eminence under a special merit-based quota.
Recognizing these young achievers is a privilege for the state government, as it fosters confidence among students, who are the future leaders. Mann advised them to carefully select their role models in their respective fields to achieve success.
Notably, Tamanna from Saraswati Senior Secondary School, Jaito, secured the first position with a perfect score of 600 out of 600. Japneet Kaur from Government Middle School, Arkawas, claimed the second position with 598 marks, while Jashandeep Kaur from Sant Mohan Das Memorial Senior Secondary School, Kot Sukhia, also achieved 598 marks, securing the third position.
