Actor Hrithik Roshan recently paid a touching tribute to filmmaker MM Baig, who passed away earlier this week. Baig, known for his contributions to Hindi cinema and for being the father of former child artist Baby Guddu, was found deceased at his home. The news was shared by his publicist, Hani Zaveri.
In a heartfelt message on his social media, Hrithik reflected on the pivotal role Baig played in his early acting career, stating that he helped him build confidence and overcome his shyness. Hrithik expressed gratitude, saying, “My dear Baigji, I will forever be grateful to you for being the teacher I so needed at the start of my journey as an actor. You helped me gain confidence over my speech and delivery... you were instrumental in shaping the actor in me. I still practice the lessons to this day. I will miss you.”
He concluded his tribute with a respectful farewell, saying, “Rest in peace, my teacher - M.M Baig. My thoughts and prayers for the Baig family.”
Regarding Baig's passing, his publicist mentioned that he had been unwell for some time and lived alone. Neighbors reported a foul smell, prompting police to investigate, where they discovered Baig's body. He was in his 70s.
MM Baig began his career in the film industry as an assistant director, collaborating with notable filmmakers like J Om Prakash and Rakesh Roshan. He was associated with many mainstream films, gaining a reputation for his technical expertise and understanding of performance.
Hrithik Roshan made his acting debut in the 2000 romantic thriller Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, directed by his father. He quickly became a household name with subsequent hits like Koi... Mil Gaya and Dhoom 2. His most recent project, War 2, did not perform as expected at the box office.
