Jitendra Kumar Embraces New Challenges in ‘Bhagwat Chapter 1: Raakshas’

In a recent interview, Jitendra Kumar, renowned for his role in 'Panchayat', expressed his enthusiasm for his character in the upcoming crime thriller 'Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas'. He portrays a college professor with hidden secrets, a role that challenges him to step outside his usual comfort zone.

Kumar's character, Sameer, is juxtaposed against Arshad Warsi's inspector Vishwas Bhagwat, who is investigating the mysterious disappearances of several young women. Directed by Akshay Shere, this ZEE5 original promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Jitendra, who gained fame as Jeetu Bhaiya in 'Kota Factory', described this role as one of his most challenging yet. He stated, "I was very excited to step out of my comfort zone. I found the role quite challenging as I have never done anything like this before. But with each challenge, there was a different level of excitement that I felt."

The actor also highlighted the collaborative atmosphere on set, mentioning how Warsi's professionalism inspired him. "The way Arshad sir conducts himself on set is really interesting. He is very chill, and every time he had a scene, he would transition seamlessly into his character. Our set was very collaborative, and we often discussed each scene to find a midpoint while considering everyone's ideas," Kumar explained.

Though Kumar has portrayed various characters, he was initially concerned about being typecast. However, he feels he has managed to maintain versatility in his performances. "I haven't felt like I am being typecast yet, but if that time comes, I will explore different genres and characters like I did with 'Bhagwat'," he added.

Since 'Bhagwat' is based on real-life incidents, Kumar aimed to portray his character honestly without judgment. He expressed, "I had a lot of fun with this story, though there was some uncertainty about showing complex shades and layers with conviction. I believe creative people should not be judgmental and should bring sincerity to each character they play."

'Bhagwat Chapter 1: Raakshas', produced by Jio Studios in collaboration with Baweja Studios and Dog n Bone Pictures, is set to premiere digitally on October 17 on ZEE5.
