NCERT and IIT Madras Collaborate to Enhance Educational Research and Technology
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) to foster innovation and collaborative research in education.
This partnership aims to utilize advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to enhance access, inclusivity, and quality within the educational landscape.
School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar stated, "This collaborative effort is crucial for achieving the objectives of the new National Education Policy (NEP) and the upcoming National Curriculum Framework. All educational materials should be digitized and available in 22 scheduled languages to facilitate education in children's native languages."
He emphasized that IIT Madras is recognized as a leader in IT, and there is a growing need for content development that includes gamification, animations, videos, and extended reality.
Kumar also noted the importance of integrating Personalized Adaptive Learning (PAL) and developing effective pedagogical and technological tools to support lesson planning and assessments using AI-driven solutions.
The collaboration will focus on several key areas, including the creation of high-quality educational content, Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for teachers, technology integration, AI/ML-enabled learning solutions, collaborative research, big data management, and promoting multilingual and inclusive learning platforms.
NCERT Chairman Dinesh Saklani remarked, "This partnership marks a significant milestone in realizing the vision of NEP 2020 by leveraging technology for accessible and inclusive education."
