Nicki Minaj Backs Trump on Nigeria’s Religious Persecution
Rap icon Nicki Minaj has publicly expressed her support for Donald Trump's position on the persecution of religious minorities in Nigeria. During an event organized by the US embassy to the United Nations, she called for an end to faith-based persecution, which Nigerian officials have denied exists.
Minaj, known for hits like "Starships" and "Super Bass," thanked Trump for prioritizing this critical issue and demonstrating leadership. She has previously highlighted the plight of Christians in Nigeria, an issue that has garnered attention from the Trump administration.
"Christians in Nigeria are being targeted, driven from their homes, and killed," Minaj stated, emphasizing the need for urgent action to protect their rights. She expressed her gratitude for the freedom to worship in the United States and urged others to pray for those who cannot freely practice their faith.
Minaj's remarks came after she supported a social media post by Trump, which criticized the Nigerian government for failing to prevent attacks on Christians. The issue has gained traction, with Trump accusing Abuja of tolerating violence against Christians perpetrated by extremists.
"Protecting Christians in Nigeria is not about dividing people; it's about uniting humanity," she added. Despite her strong stance, Minaj has faced criticism in the past for her provocative public persona, including a controversial appearance at the Grammy Awards in 2012.
Ambassador Mike Waltz, who joined Minaj at the event, reiterated that while Nigerian officials claim terrorism affects all faiths, evidence shows that Christians disproportionately suffer from violence.
