Odisha CM Urges OPSC to Fill 151 Vacant Civil Service Posts for 2025 Exam
Bhubaneswar, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has urged the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to conduct exams to fill an additional 151 vacant positions, including 14 in the state civil service.
This directive follows widespread dissatisfaction regarding OPSC's recent notification on December 31, which announced 314 vacancies across seven services, excluding the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS), Odisha Finance Service (OFS), and Odisha Revenue Service.
The OPSC's notification pertains to the Odisha Civil Services Examination 2025, which includes 314 vacancies. Among these, 104 are reserved for women, and the only Group A service, the Odisha Police Service, has 12 vacancies.
In Group B services, there are 176 vacancies in the Odisha Taxation and Accounts Service and 98 in the Odisha Labour Service. Other services have varying numbers of vacancies, including 10 in the Odisha Skill Development and Employment Service and 4 in the Odisha Cooperative Service.
Recognizing the concerns of job seekers, the chief minister has reviewed the vacancies and directed that they be filled promptly, as stated in an official release from the Chief Minister's Office.
The recommended posts include 14 in OAS, 113 in the Odisha Revenue Service, 16 in the Odisha Transport Service, and 8 in the Odisha Welfare Service, totaling 151 additional positions.
Majhi emphasized that this initiative aims to assist many youth aspiring for government jobs. He reiterated the state government's commitment to the employment sector, highlighting that approximately 40,000 government positions have been filled in the past 18 months.
The chief minister has also instructed all departments to recommend filling any remaining vacant positions within the government sector.
