Pondicherry Central University Achieves 470th Rank in QS Asia University Rankings 2026
Pondicherry Central University has reached an impressive milestone by securing the 470th position in the QS Asia University Rankings 2026. This ranking includes 1,526 institutions from 48 Asian countries.
According to a statement from the Deputy Registrar, K Mahesh, this achievement marks a significant improvement from the previous year's ranking, which was in the 501-520 band. The university's progress reflects its commitment to academic excellence, enhanced research output, and increased international collaboration.
The university's overall score rose from 18.8 in 2025 to 30.7 in 2026, indicating improvements across various performance metrics. Its standing in the Southern Asian region also improved, climbing from 140th to 121st place.
Notably, research performance indicators have shown marked improvement, with papers published per faculty increasing from 48.2 to 76.6 and citations per paper rising from 16.9 to 19.4. These figures highlight the university's growing research productivity and impact.
The university has also made strides in internationalization, with the international faculty ratio increasing from 4.6 to 5.1 and the international student ratio doubling from 2 to 4. This growth underscores the university's enhanced global presence and diversity.
Additionally, the international research network score significantly increased from 26.3 to 77.6, showcasing a major expansion in global research collaborations. Vice Chancellor P Prakash Babu commended the faculty, research scholars, and staff for their remarkable achievements.
