Princess Diana’s Iconic ‘Revenge Dress’ Unveiled at Paris Waxwork Museum

The Grevin waxwork museum in Paris has introduced a remarkable new exhibit: Princess Diana in the iconic 'revenge dress' that she wore after the public revelations of her husband Prince Charles's infidelity.

Similar to Madame Tussauds in London, the Grevin Museum already features wax figures of Charles, now King Charles III, and the late Queen Elizabeth II. However, Diana's absence was notable until now, especially considering her tragic connection to the city where she passed away in a car accident in 1997.

The exhibit features Diana in a replica of the stunning black gown designed by Christina Stambolian, which she famously wore during a public appearance in 1994 amidst intense media scrutiny regarding her marriage's collapse.

She made a bold statement by flaunting the off-the-shoulder dress the same day an interview aired where Charles admitted to his unfaithfulness.

According to the Grevin Museum, "More than 28 years after her tragic death in Paris, Diana remains a prominent figure in global pop culture, celebrated for her style, compassion, and independence." They highlighted that the gown symbolizes a powerful image of self-assertion and renewed confidence.

Diana's wax figure is strategically placed apart from Charles and Queen Elizabeth, alongside other fashion and entertainment icons like Jean Paul Gaultier and singer Aya Nakamura.

The unveiling on November 20 was a poignant nod to the 30-year anniversary of Diana's bombshell BBC interview in which she remarked, "there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded," referring to Camilla Parker-Bowles, whom Charles later married.

The high-profile waxwork was crafted by Paris-based sculptor Laurent Mallamaci, who faced the challenge of honoring Diana's legacy while ensuring authenticity.

The Grevin Museum had previously been in discussions with Diana for a figure before her passing, but plans were set aside at that time.
