Punjab Schools Closure Extended Amid Severe Cold and Fog
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced that all schools in the state will remain closed until January 13, 2026, due to the worsening cold and fog conditions.
This closure applies to all government, aided, recognized, and private schools. Schools are expected to reopen on January 14.
Recent weather reports indicate that temperatures in parts of Punjab have dropped below 5 degrees Celsius. Bathinda recorded the lowest temperature at 4.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Amritsar at 7.5 degrees, Ludhiana at 6.6 degrees, and Patiala at 7.1 degrees. The minimum temperature in Chandigarh was noted at 7.6 degrees Celsius.
