Sanjay Dutt’s Frustration: A 9-Hour Wait on the Set of Jodi No. 1

In a revealing anecdote from the set of the 2001 film Jodi No. 1, actor Rajat Bedi shared a frustrating incident involving Sanjay Dutt and Govinda. During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Bedi recounted how Govinda arrived nine hours late, causing significant unrest among the crew.

Bedi explained that the shooting was scheduled to begin at 7 AM. He and Dutt arrived early, but the crew found themselves waiting for Govinda. As time ticked away and it reached 2 PM, Dutt’s patience wore thin, leading him to express his anger.

“He was abusing,” Bedi recounted, highlighting that while they were waiting, they learned Govinda was en route from Hyderabad and would not arrive until 3 PM. By the time he reached the set, Dutt was already frustrated. When it was time to shoot, Dutt was overwhelmed with lines and told his assistant, ‘Give these lines to Govinda, I’m not doing this.’”

Despite the rocky start, Govinda managed to wrap up his scenes in just two hours, showcasing his talent as a performer. The film, directed by David Dhawan, remains one of the notable comedies of early 2000s Bollywood, highlighting the duo's comedic chemistry.
