Shaggy Praises India’s Unique Driving Experience

Jamaican-American reggae-dancehall star Shaggy, known for his hit song "Boom Body" featuring Akon and Aidonia, recently opened up about his experiences in India. With a music career spanning back to the 90s, Shaggy emphasizes his connection to younger audiences by staying attuned to cultural shifts. "Music is my only job," he states, highlighting its cultural significance.

Shaggy’s fondness for India dates back to when Mumbai was still known as Bombay. He cherishes the food, particularly the curries, and recalls the elaborate Indian weddings he's performed at over the years. However, he expresses astonishment at the traffic conditions, remarking, "The craziest driving I've seen in the world is in India. No country can top that!"

He also mentioned his son, Robb Banks, who recently performed in India at Rolling Loud in Navi Mumbai. Robb embraced the local culture by wearing a traditional kurta on stage, showcasing his appreciation for the country's heritage.

As an independent artist, Shaggy relishes the freedom to create music at his own pace, without the constraints of large budgets. He believes that the music industry often remembers artists for their hits rather than their flops, emphasizing the importance of staying relevant over the decades without worrying about creating a legacy.

Looking ahead, Shaggy is excited about his upcoming album, "Lottery," set to release in March. The album promises collaborations with notable artists like Robin Thicke, Anthony Hamilton, and Sting. He confidently states that a single listen is often enough to identify a potential hit.
