Shah Rukh Khan Reflects on Parenting and Role Choices

During the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in 2007, Shah Rukh Khan discussed how fatherhood has influenced his approach to acting.

In the 1990s, Khan gained fame for portraying complex, grey characters in films like Baazigar and Darr. However, during the summit, he revealed that becoming a father changed his perspective on the roles he chooses.

When asked by Karan Johar about the impact of his roles on society, Khan stated, “I don't like to use bad language in my films. Before my kids, I was a little more relaxed. I didn’t think much about the influence I had on others. Now, I realize there are many things I should avoid.”

He further expressed his preference for light-hearted films, saying, “I don’t like dark films, and I don’t want to play very mean characters. I prefer films that are pleasant and convey positive messages.”

However, he also noted that he is not in favor of banning smoking or drinking from films, calling such restrictions narrow-minded.

Shah Rukh's recent works include roles in Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, showcasing his versatility and appeal even as he navigates the responsibilities of parenthood.
