Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Shatters Records with 1 Billion Views
The highly anticipated trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day was launched on March 17, making history as the first movie trailer ever to reach one billion views. This remarkable feat comes shortly after the trailer surpassed previous records set by Deadpool and Wolverine, as well as Tom Holland's earlier film, No Way Home.
Released by Sony, the trailer achieved its billion-view mark in just four days and has reportedly exceeded 1.1 billion views as of the following Tuesday, according to WaveMetrix.
Record-Breaking Performance
Previously, the teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine set an all-time record with 365 million views after its Super Bowl debut in February 2024, overtaking the 355.5 million views garnered by No Way Home. However, the Brand New Day trailer shattered these benchmarks with a staggering 718.6 million views in just 24 hours, surpassing even the record of 475 million held by the video game Grand Theft Auto VI.
About Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Scheduled for theatrical release on July 31, Brand New Day serves as a sequel to No Way Home, which grossed an impressive $1.9 billion globally in 2021. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film features Tom Holland alongside a stellar cast including Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. The screenplay is penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
The trailer reveals a gripping storyline where Peter Parker grapples with a reality in which everyone, including his girlfriend MJ and best friend Ned, has forgotten him and his identity as Spider-Man. Four years later, he must fend off new threats while facing an unexpected evolution in his life. Despite seeking help from Bruce Banner (Hulk), Peter finds himself navigating this chaotic world largely alone. Fans on the internet have humorously suggested alternate titles like ‘Spider-Man: Far from okay’ and ‘Spider-Man: Broke, depressed, alone, heartbroken’ after viewing the trailer.
This film marks the fourth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series of Spider-Man films produced by Sony Pictures, following Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and No Way Home (2021), as part of Phase Six of the MCU.
