Sutapa Sikdar Celebrates ‘O Romeo’ Amidst Memories of Irrfan Khan
'O Romeo' is set to hit theaters today, February 13, after a series of delays. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the film features Shahid Kapoor in the lead role, alongside Triptii Dimri and Nana Patekar.
As the release approaches, Vishal Bhardwaj has shared a heartfelt note expressing pride in the film, regardless of the critical reception or box office performance.
Sutapa Sikdar, the widow of the late actor Irrfan Khan, took to social media to send her well wishes to the team behind 'O Romeo'.
Sutapa's Heartfelt Message
In her message, she remarked, “Congratulations! You dreamt of this film long ago when it was called 'Sapna Didi'. Today, that dream is realized, and you have transformed into Romeo! Keep dreaming of a world free from violence!” She ended with a touching note: “@irrfan is sending you best wishes from heaven.”
Vishal had previously penned a note emphasizing his pride in the film before the critics weigh in. He expressed his deep appreciation for his team, stating, “This pent-up anguish needed release. In 'O Romeo', I confront the monsters we cannot face in real life.”
'O Romeo' was initially intended to star Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone, but scheduling issues prevented the project from coming to fruition. The film is inspired by a chapter from Hussain Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai', and it narrates the story of gangster Hussain Ustara, portrayed by Shahid Kapoor.
Irrfan Khan passed away in 2020, leaving behind a legacy that continues through his family and work.
