Tekashi 6ix9ine Reports to NYC Lockup Amid High-Profile Inmates
NEW YORK — Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has begun his latest stint in federal custody, reporting to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The 29-year-old artist, born Daniel Hernandez, arrived at the jail in a luxury van, accompanied by internet personality Adin Ross and a camera crew documenting the moment.
This facility is notorious, described by some judges as a "hell on earth" due to its poor conditions and ongoing violence. Currently, it houses notable inmates, including Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and Luigi Mangione, accused of murdering the CEO of United Healthcare.
Over the years, MDC Brooklyn has seen its fair share of high-profile inmates, including R. Kelly, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and Ghislaine Maxwell.
Hernandez's legal team has not commented on his current situation, but they previously noted that the rapper is eager to complete his sentence and return to his music career. His latest legal troubles stem from a violation of his supervised release, leading to a three-month sentence.
He rose to fame with his 2017 hit “Gummo” but faced legal issues after pleading guilty to charges related to gang activity in 2018. He was released early from federal prison during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hernandez's recent sentence is linked to drugs found in his Miami home and an incident where he assaulted a man at a mall.
