Tripura Schools Closed Until January 10 Due to Severe Cold Weather
AGARTALA: The government of Tripura has announced that all schools, including private institutions, will remain closed from January 6 to January 10, 2026, due to severe cold weather conditions.
This decision follows the closure of schools by the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) from January 3 to January 13, also in response to harsh weather. The TTAADC governs a significant portion of Tripura, where over 80% of the population resides.
Chief Minister Manik Saha confirmed the closure on Facebook, stating, "All schools (government, aided, and privately managed) will be closed from January 6 to January 10 due to extreme cold weather conditions."
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a minimum temperature of 13.6° Celsius in Agartala, with predictions indicating that maximum temperatures may remain 4°C to 6°C below normal for the next few days before a slight increase.
