Vijay Accuses Political Opponents of Spreading Divorce Rumors Ahead of Elections
Tamil star and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay recently held a rally in Tirunelveli, addressing his ongoing divorce from Sangeeta Sornalingam and the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections. He alleged that his political adversaries deliberately leaked news of his divorce to tarnish his image.
In a passionate speech, Vijay expressed his frustration, stating, "They only know one thing: to blame Vijay. The whole place knows about the Karur issue, but why not blame Vijay for it?" He emphasized that despite the blame, he has unwavering support from the people.
He further claimed that after facing backlash from the Karur stampede incident, opponents shifted their focus to his film release and personal life. "Let’s stop Jana Nayagan’s release. You know who blocked this film from releasing. When that didn’t work, they spread rumors about those close to me right before the elections," he said, alluding to the timing of the rumors.
Vijay mentioned that these attempts to undermine him would not succeed, asserting, "No matter how many trials and pains you put me through, you can’t separate me from the people." His remarks come amidst speculation about his relationship with actress Trisha Krishnan, which has fueled further rumors.
Recently, Vijay announced his candidacy in the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections, surprising many fans. He was previously involved in a significant incident, where a stampede at a Karur rally resulted in numerous casualties, prompting him to pause public rallies temporarily.
As the election date approaches, Vijay remains determined to combat the negativity surrounding his personal and professional life while maintaining his political aspirations.
