Yami Gautam’s Diwali Joy: Celebrating Traditions with Family

Yami Gautam is gearing up to celebrate Diwali in her hometown of Chandigarh, where the festive preparations are as thrilling as the festival itself. In a recent interview, she expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “From cleaning the house and discarding old items to acquiring new decor and kitchen essentials, the atmosphere is filled with warmth and excitement.”

Speaking about the family traditions she wishes to pass on to her son, Vedavid, she shared, "Our traditions include lighting diyas on Dhanteras, performing puja on Chhoti Diwali, and creating beautiful rangoli patterns with soaked rice paste on the main day. It was always fascinating to watch my mother create these without stencils, and we were careful not to disturb her work while playing nearby. Vedavid, though still young, enjoys watching the city illuminated with lights, and the fireworks thrill him. We also make 'mitti ke ghar' for the puja room and offer sweets at the mandir. He actively participates in the puja and helps with the cleaning as much as he can. Aditya and I share similar values, and we are committed to upholding our Diwali traditions."

The actress loves adorning her home with diyas, relishing the scent of mustard oil as she lights them. "They symbolize warmth and blessings, and I always volunteer to place them throughout our home. While fairylights are lovely, I prefer warm-toned lights. As for sweets, my favorites include gulab jamun and kaju katli, alongside traditional treats like gurpara and shakkarpara," she added.

Yami, who has successfully led both film and OTT projects, is also looking forward to her five upcoming releases. She remarked, “I feel a great sense of responsibility due to the trust the audience places in me, and I strive to meet their expectations. I am grateful to my directors and producers for creating cinematic magic.”
