Zayn Malik Reflects on His Relationship with Gigi Hadid: A Candid Conversation

Former One Direction member Zayn Malik recently opened up about his relationship with ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid. The couple, who share a daughter named Khai, welcomed her in September 2020 and ended their relationship in 2021. Despite their split, Zayn reflects on their time together with respect.

During an appearance on the podcast 'Call Her Daddy', Zayn discussed his evolving understanding of love. He admitted, "My understanding of love is always developing. At that moment in time, I might have thought it was love, but as I’ve got older, I’ve realized maybe it wasn’t. Maybe it was lust or something else. I don’t feel like it was love.”

He stressed, “I will always love Gigi because she’s the reason my child is on this earth. I have the utmost respect for her. I do love her a crazy amount, but I don’t think I was ever in love with her at that point.”

Zayn and Gigi dated for nearly six years and decided to co-parent Khai after their breakup. On Khai's birthday in 2024, Zayn shared a heartfelt message, expressing his love and pride as a father, stating, “Happy birthday to the most important person in my life. I wouldn’t be the man I am today without you.”
