Why Sleeping Without Underwear Can Benefit Women’s Health
Many women have come across advice suggesting they should avoid wearing underwear to bed, and this recommendation is backed by science. Allowing your body to breathe at night is not only comfortable but also essential for maintaining a healthy pH balance, preventing irritation and excess discharge.
According to Hailey Puckett, a women's health nurse practitioner, wearing underwear at night can trap moisture, disrupting the natural pH balance of the vagina. This can lead to increased discharge as the body attempts to restore balance. As she puts it, "The main reason I suggest this is because at night, when you're asleep, it gives your vaginal area a chance to reset. If you continue to hold moisture near the vagina and vulva, it can literally throw off the pH."
If you feel uncomfortable sleeping without underwear, consider wearing loose-fitting clothing, like boxer briefs, that allow for adequate airflow. Avoid tight-fitting garments that resemble underwear, as they can also contribute to discomfort and hygiene issues.
Incorporating this simple habit into your bedtime routine can significantly improve your intimate health.
