5 Foods to Avoid This Winter for Better Health: Insights from a Pune Nutritionist

As winter approaches, many of us crave comforting foods. However, not all winter treats are healthy. To help you stay fit during the colder months, nutritionist Amita Gadre from Pune highlights five foods to avoid.

1. Amla Candy: While amla is nutritious, amla candy is packed with sugar. Instead, try incorporating fresh grated amla into your meals, like chutneys or salads.

2. Chyawanprash: This popular health supplement is often high in sugar. Amita suggests opting for vegetable soups, which provide more antioxidants without the added sugar.

3. Dry Fruit Laddus: Though rich in nutrients, these can be calorie-dense. One laddu may contain around 200 calories. If you're aiming to lose weight, consider a handful of nuts instead.

4. Ready-Packaged Soups: These often contain excessive sodium and lack essential nutrients. It’s best to make homemade soups for a healthier option.

5. Ghee Overload: During winter, we become less active and may be tempted to consume more ghee. Amita advises moderation to avoid extra calorie intake.

By avoiding these five foods, you can enjoy a healthier winter season without compromising on taste or nutrition.
