Unveiling Santa Claus: Age, Height, and Weight Revealed
Santa Claus, the beloved figure synonymous with Christmas, has become a global icon through countless pop culture references. But how old is Santa Claus? According to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), known for its Santa Tracker, Santa is estimated to be at least 1,600 years old.
In addition to his remarkable age, NORAD analysts have assessed that Santa stands approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs around 260 pounds. This conclusion is based on radar data and numerous sightings over the past 50 years.
NORAD's Santa Tracker
The tradition of tracking Santa began somewhat accidentally. In 1955, a child misdialed a number from a department store advertisement, reaching the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) instead. Col. Harry Shoup, the officer on duty, decided to play along and provide the child with Santa’s location, marking the beginning of Santa's tracking history.
This charming initiative has evolved into NORAD's Santa Tracker, which has been a staple for families worldwide for nearly 65 years. Every Christmas Eve, millions eagerly await updates on Santa's journey, supported by volunteers from around the globe.
What started as a simple mistake has blossomed into one of the most cherished community events, reminding us all of the joy and spirit of the holiday season.
Christmas, celebrated on December 25th, commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ and is observed globally with various traditions, including the legendary figure of Santa Claus.
