Indra Nooyi’s Empowering Message for Future Women Leaders at Vedica’s 10th Convocation
Indra Nooyi, the former CEO of PepsiCo, shared her insights at the 10th Convocation of the Vedica Scholars Programme for Women, addressing the challenges young women face in balancing career and family.
During the event in Delhi, Indra emphasized that there is no one-size-fits-all model for achieving balance in life. Instead, she encouraged women to make conscious choices about their priorities at different stages of life.
She urged women to release the pressure of perfectionism and to define what areas they wish to excel in, what they are comfortable being good at, and what they can let go of.
The Competence-Courage Connection
In a candid discussion, Indra highlighted that professional courage must be anchored in competence. She encouraged young leaders to discover their unique value and use it as the foundation for building their confidence. The conversation also explored how to navigate the workplace effectively.
Indra stressed the importance of mentorship and constructive communication, noting that influence is cultivated through being trusted and respected, rather than merely being the loudest voice.
Moreover, she discussed the significance of partnership and shared responsibilities at home, indicating that societal progress hinges on supporting women both personally and professionally.
Anuradha Das Mathur, the founder and dean of Vedica, expressed gratitude for Indra's presence, stating, “Ms. Nooyi’s wisdom and experience will inspire our scholars as they advance in their careers.”
The convocation celebrated the achievements of Vedica’s graduates and reaffirmed the institution’s mission to empower women leaders who are confident, clear in their priorities, and grounded in their values.
Over the past decade, the Vedica Scholars Programme has successfully prepared hundreds of women for leadership roles across various sectors, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of women's leadership in India.
