Kerala CM Set to Unveil Scholar Connect Digital Platform

Thiruvananthapuram, a digital platform aimed at fostering academic collaboration between Kerala's higher education institutions and scholars of state origin worldwide, will be launched by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on February 11.

Titled 'Scholar Connect', this innovative portal is designed by the Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC).

The launch event will take place at the Government College for Women in Thiruvananthapuram, with the platform accessible at scholarconnect.kshec.org.

Scholar Connect aims to transform Kerala's globally dispersed academic diaspora into a structured contributor to the state's higher education ecosystem.

Notably, Kerala is the first state in India to establish such a dedicated digital platform for diaspora academic engagement.

This initiative provides a unified space for academic mentorship, guest lectures, visiting professorships, curriculum enrichment, joint research initiatives, and long-term institutional partnerships.

It facilitates both virtual and in-person engagement, ensuring continuity despite geographical barriers.

Scholars from various countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, and Australia, have already registered, indicating strong global interest.

A standout feature of the portal is its Virtual Mentorship module, enabling faculty in Kerala to post academic and research needs. Diaspora scholars can respond based on their expertise, creating a demand-driven approach.

The platform is guided by an international Advisory Board of eminent academic leaders from institutions across the globe, while an Administrative Advisory Board in Kerala ensures policy alignment.

Building on KSHEC's previous Brain Gain programme, Scholar Connect is designed as a scalable model for international academic collaboration.

In the long term, the initiative is expected to expand into areas such as student exchanges, joint degree programmes, credit transfers, and international research partnerships.
