CBSE Class 10 Second Exam Registration Opens March 18
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that registration for the second board examinations for Class 10 students will commence on March 18 and continue until March 31.
Schools are required to submit a tentative list of candidates wishing to participate in the exams, which are scheduled for May. The examination fee will only be collected after the results of the first exams are announced.
Eligibility for the second examination is limited to students who appeared in the initial board exams held from February 18 to March 11. CBSE has stated that all candidates who passed and are eligible can improve their scores in any three subjects, including science, mathematics, social science, or languages.
Students who did not attempt three or more subjects in the first examination cannot register for the second exam. The syllabus for the second examination will mirror that of the first.
Once results are released, students will have an additional five days to register and pay the fee. A late registration option will be available for two days after this period, incurring a penalty of ₹2,000.
The fee structure for Indian students is ₹320 per subject (₹960 for three subjects), while fees for students in Nepal and other countries differ.
CBSE has urged schools to comply with the registration timelines to ensure proper examination preparations. It is crucial for schools to guide students about the registration process and the importance of using this opportunity judiciously.
Notably, no new candidates will be accepted after the list of candidates is submitted, and changes in subjects will not be allowed, except for specific cases in Mathematics. Students in the compartment category may also register but must submit a new list.
Lastly, CBSE has emphasized that the improvement of internal assessment marks will not be permitted, as this is considered a yearlong process.
