Investigation Launched in Jharkhand After Computer Tampering Before JEE Exams
Ramgarh, Jharkhand - The district administration of Ramgarh has initiated an investigation into alleged tampering of computers intended for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) set for April 2. An official reported that three individuals have been arrested in connection with this incident.
The inquiry was prompted after Radha Govind University, one of the JEE examination centers, filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the local police. They accused certain individuals of tampering with their computer systems prior to the exam.
According to Ramgarh Deputy Commissioner Faiz Aq Ahmed Mumtaz, the arrests included a computer operator from the university who is suspected of attempting to manipulate the systems along with accomplices inside the computer lab.
The incident was detected on March 29 when a university staff member noticed suspicious activities occurring in the computer lab. Upon questioning the individuals, they falsely claimed to be technical staff from an authorized company overseeing the examination.
Following the FIR, the police swiftly apprehended the suspects—identified as Dinesh Kumar Mahto, Suraj Kumar Singh, and Shakir Ansari—on the evening of March 29. Authorities also seized 70 computer monitors, three CPUs, three mobile phones, and a luxury SUV from the suspects.
In response to this incident, the Ramgarh Sub-divisional Officer has been tasked with conducting the investigation and is expected to submit findings promptly. The National Testing Agency, responsible for conducting the JEE exams, has also been notified regarding the situation, along with a request to assess the suitability of the examination center.
