A Brave Journey: Girl Overcomes Child Marriage to Take Class 10 Exam

A 15-year-old girl from Beed district in Maharashtra has shown immense courage by sitting for her Class 10 exam after overcoming the trauma of child marriage and domestic violence.

She appeared for her Marathi subject exam under police protection, marking a significant step in her journey toward independence and education.

Forced into marriage by her guardians in December 2025, she faced severe abuse from her husband and in-laws. Instead of succumbing to her circumstances, she bravely sought help from the Pune police, leading to legal action against her abusers.

After being moved to 'Shakti Sadan' Swadhar Grah in Beed, she received necessary psychological support. Despite her ordeal, she remained determined to complete her education and expressed her wish to take the board exams.

In response, local authorities promptly arranged for her safety, enabling her to attend the exam center with police support. Social activist Tatvashil Kamble emphasized the importance of integrating such victims into education, encouraging their self-reliance.

This inspiring story illustrates the resilience of young individuals in the face of adversity and the critical need for support systems for survivors of domestic violence.
