Apply Now: Ashoka University Young India Fellowship 2026-27 Admissions Open
Ashoka University is excited to announce that applications are now open for its 16th cohort of the Young India Fellowship (YIF), a prestigious one-year postgraduate program celebrating 15 years of excellence. This year, around 100 candidates will be selected through a rigorous and holistic evaluation process, and all selected Fellows will receive scholarships supported by HDFC Bank.
The application window for Round 1 is currently open and will close on January 19, 2026. Applicants who meet the priority deadline of December 8, 2025, will have their applications evaluated earlier for potential interviews.
The YIF program, initiated in 2011, stands out for its interdisciplinary approach, focusing on leadership, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Starting this year, the program will offer a Postgraduate Diploma in Interdisciplinary Studies, enhancing its academic framework. Fellows will engage in approximately 18 courses across various disciplines, work on immersive real-world projects, and collaborate closely with experienced faculty, visiting experts, and successful alumni.
Reflecting on the Fellowship's impact, Pramath Raj Sinha, Founder & Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, emphasized that YIF encapsulates the best offerings of Ashoka University. Vice Chancellor Somak Raychaudhury noted that many YIF alumni have achieved remarkable success globally across various sectors.
Over the past 14 years, nearly 2,400 alumni have graduated from the YIF, contributing to fields like government, civil society, academia, corporate, and the arts.
Eligibility and Scholarships
Applicants must possess a recognized undergraduate degree by July 2026 or be final-year students at the time of application. There are no age restrictions, and candidates from diverse backgrounds and nationalities are encouraged to apply. The application process is free, and shortlisted candidates will be invited for online interviews.
Selected Fellows will receive scholarships ranging from 25% to 100%, covering tuition, accommodation, and meals. Exceptional candidates may qualify for the Chancellor’s Scholarship, which fully covers tuition and residence expenses.
