Assam Government Launches Foreign Language Training Program for Youth

In a significant move to empower the youth of Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a foreign language training program aimed at enhancing employability on a global scale.

The initiative, named the Chief Minister’s Foreign Languages Initiative for Global Human Talent, will initially focus on teaching the Japanese language.

During the launch, Sarma emphasized the program's potential to open doors for employment opportunities worldwide, stating, "Assam’s Gateway to Global Careers has been established to equip our youth with essential foreign language skills that will make them economically empowered."

In its first phase, 180 participants will receive comprehensive training in Japanese, which includes cultural insights, job placement assistance, and financial support.

Sarma noted that this initiative aims to strengthen the existing Indo-Japan partnerships and enhance cultural exchanges between Assam and Japan.

"Thanks to our esteemed partners like ASEAN ONE, this program will take place at the North East Skill Centre in Guwahati, setting our youth on a path toward successful careers in Japan's esteemed workplaces," he added.

The costs of the training course have been lowered significantly, with funding shared between the Assam government and the Japanese government.

Sarma highlighted Japan's enduring friendship with India and mentioned ongoing discussions for potential collaborations with other international partners.

Participants will be trained through three international partners: ASEAN ONE Co. Ltd., Jaceex Ventures LLP, and Meiko Career Partners Co. Ltd.

Overall, the initiative aims to prepare Assam’s youth not only with language skills but also with workplace readiness, enhancing their employability in sectors like construction, nursing care, and food service.
