Dyan Cannon’s Journey to Peace: Embracing Faith in God

Dyan Cannon, the Oscar-nominated actress, has opened up about her journey to finding peace through faith in God after a life filled with struggles related to drugs, heartbreak, and the pressures of Hollywood.

At 88, Cannon reflects on her past, sharing with Fox News Digital that her search for meaning led her through various detours, including relationships and substance use. "I’ve tried everything," she admitted, explaining that these attempts were merely temporary solutions.

She emphasized, “Faith has helped me with my emotional life,” realizing that true happiness cannot be dependent on others. “I used to expect a man to make me happy. Can you believe that? That’s impossible,” she noted.

Cannon's marriage to Cary Grant in 1965 was intense and complex. She explained how he introduced her to LSD, believing it could help them connect spiritually. However, the marriage ended in 1968, prompting Cannon to seek solace in pills and marijuana, leading to a breakdown.

After her struggles, she found strength in her faith. “I’m a ‘God girl,’ meaning I understand there’s just one God who loves everybody the same,” she stated. This perspective has brought her peace, though it cost her some friendships and career opportunities.

Now embracing her single life, Cannon expresses her openness to love but is hesitant to marry again, stating, “I was forced to give up my career for marriage. I don’t think I’d do that again.”

Reflecting on her past, she humorously advises her younger self to “snap out of it,” highlighting her growth and newfound wisdom through faith.
