NTR Health University Launches Remote Command Centre to Combat Exam Malpractice
Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh - A remote command control centre has been inaugurated at NTR University of Health Sciences to enhance transparency and curb malpractices during medical examinations.
According to Andhra Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, this innovative system allows real-time monitoring of undergraduate and postgraduate medical examinations across 37 government and private medical colleges in the state via CCTV cameras linked to the command centre.
Yadav emphasized that the command centre aims to eliminate malpractice in medical exams, stating, "Examinations conducted in all 37 colleges will be monitored live from the university’s command control room, leaving no room for copying or other irregularities."
Each year, approximately 60,000 students participate in the annual and supplementary examinations. Currently, monitoring has commenced with MBBS and PG examinations in five medical colleges, with plans to expand to dental, Ayurveda, homoeopathy, nursing, and other courses in phases.
The system features CCTV cameras installed in examination halls, with student movements digitally recorded and stored for up to 70 days. Each medical college is equipped with around 25 cameras based on the capacity of the examination halls.
The command centre includes a six-screen video wall and 10 computers to ensure comprehensive oversight of examination proceedings. Additionally, the system can generate AI-based alerts for camera malfunctions, and recorded visuals remain accessible even during temporary internet disruptions.
With this new setup, medical colleges will no longer need to submit CCTV hard disks to the university after examinations, simplifying the process.
