Sonam Bajwa Shares Fond Memories of Guru Nanak Jayanti 2025

Actor Sonam Bajwa, known for her roles in Punjabi cinema, reminisces about her cherished memories of celebrating Gurpurab, a festival that holds a special significance for her despite her not living in Punjab.

Born in Uttarakhand and raised in Uttar Pradesh, Sonam recalls, "Every Guru Nanak Jayanti, I have vivid memories of attending Prabhat Pheris." She expressed her excitement for the festivities, saying, "I was always thrilled from morning to evening, especially looking forward to the Kada Prasad, boondi, and laddoos. Even though my school had a holiday that day, we would still celebrate and offer special prayers. We would roam around the entire day, soaking in the joy of the occasion."

Sonam also highlighted her family's connection to the festival, sharing, "My mother is an amritdhari and continues to do sewa. I grew up immersed in that culture, even if I don't have clear memories of doing sewa myself."

One of her favorite memories is relishing the langar, specifically the famous kaali daal. She fondly stated, "I loved the kaali daal and phulka. Even if you replicate it at home, it never tastes the same as in the langar."

However, as her career takes precedence, Sonam reflects on how the celebrations feel different now. "This year, I'll be shooting in Punjab on Gurpurab. Working on festivals has become a norm for me in recent years," she admitted.

In 2025, Sonam has also made her mark in the Hindi film industry with films like Baaghi 4, Housefull 5, and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat.
