Remembering Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield: A Look at His Family and Legacy

Gary 'Mani' Mounfield, the legendary bassist known for his work with 'The Stone Roses' and 'Primal Scream', sadly passed away at the age of 63 on November 20, 2025. His death was confirmed by his nephew, who shared the news on social media.

Mani was married to Imelda Mounfield, a union that began during the recording of The Stone Roses' second album, 'Second Coming'. Together, they welcomed twin sons, Gene Clarke and George Christopher, in 2012. Tragically, Imelda lost her battle with stage-four bowel cancer in November 2023.

The couple's love and commitment were evident, particularly during Imelda's courageous fight against cancer. They became advocates for cancer awareness and contributed to various charities in her honor. In December 2022, they raised nearly £100,000 through an auction of music memorabilia for The Christie and Stockport NHS Charity.

Imelda once expressed, "Cancer affects not just the person who has it, but everyone around them," highlighting the importance of supporting research and funding for families affected by the disease.

Mani's brother, Greg Mounfield, shared the heartbreaking news of Mani's passing, emphasizing the love for his brother and the connection to his sons.
