Kiran Rao Provides Health Update Post Appendix Surgery

Filmmaker Kiran Rao recently shared her health update following surgery for a 12mm diameter appendix. On her Instagram account, she posted several photos and a video taken at the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital.

In her first clip, Kiran provided a glimpse from her hospital room, along with a selfie where she playfully pouted for the camera. She also shared a close-up of her hospital name tag, which read 'Kiran Aamir Rao Khan'. Another image showed her smiling while enjoying a meal in the hospital.

Kiran expressed her gratitude in her post, stating, "Here I was, all ready to party my way into 2026, when my appendix sent me a reminder to slow down, breathe deep, and give thanks. Immense gratitude for modern medicine. I still can’t wrap my head around how that whole 12mm appendix came out through a 10.5mm catheter!"

She thanked her doctor, Dr. Kayomarz Kapadia, and the surgical team for their excellent care, as well as her friends and family who visited her during her stay. Kiran humorously noted the reactions to her temporarily plumped lips due to an allergic reaction.

Now discharged and back home, Kiran is looking forward to welcoming the new year. She expressed her hope that 2026 would be full of kindness, joy, and improved air quality for everyone.

In response to her post, fellow celebrities like Ira Khan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Karan Johar, and Zoya Akhtar sent their well wishes for a speedy recovery.

Kiran Rao, who was married to actor Aamir Khan from 2005 until their separation in 2021, is known for her work as an assistant director on 'Lagaan' and for directing 'Dhobi Ghat'. Her recent film, 'Laapataa Ladies', was selected as India’s entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards.
