Unveiling the Highest-Paid Crew Member of Taapsee Pannu’s Film Assi

Just three days ago, the mysterious film titled Assi was announced on social media. The poster, which did not mention either the director or the cast, sparked widespread curiosity. Now, with the release of the film’s motion poster, it is revealed that the project is directed by Anubhav Sinha and stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead role. However, neither Anubhav nor Taapsee holds the title of the highest-paid crew member.

On Friday, the makers of Assi shared an intriguing motion poster that shows a girl running away from three boys, with Taapsee Pannu dressed as a lawyer, her face covered in blood. The poster text reads, “Assi. Uss raat woh ghar nahi pahunchi (that night she didn’t reach home).” The film's full cast includes notable actors like Kani Kusruti, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Revathy, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Supriya Pathak Kapur, and Naseeruddin Shah.

Despite such a stellar line-up, the highest-paid crew member on the film is its writer. On January 21, the makers declared, “Believe it or not, the highest-paid crew member on this film is the writer.” Although the writer's name hasn't been officially announced, it is rumored to be Gaurav Solanki, known for his work on Article 15 and the Amazon Prime Video series Tandav.

Directed by Anubhav Sinha, Assi is an investigative thriller that unfolds through an intense courtroom drama. This film marks the third collaboration between Taapsee and Anubhav, following their successful projects Mulk and Thappad. The trailer will be attached to Border 2 in theaters. Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, Assi is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Anubhav Sinha. The film is set to release in theaters worldwide on February 20, 2026.
