Rajpal Yadav Remains in Jail as Delhi HC Adjourns Bail Hearing
The Delhi High Court recently convened to address actor Rajpal Yadav's bail request in a cheque bounce case. The court noted that Yadav remains in Tihar Jail due to his failure to honor financial obligations. The proceedings were postponed to Monday.
During the hearing, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma stated, “You have gone to jail because you didn’t honour your own commitment.” The court highlighted that Yadav had repeatedly claimed he would repay the owed amount but failed to follow through.
Rajpal's counsel informed the court that they intended to deposit the required funds that day. However, after further discussions, they decided to adjourn the case until Monday, with instructions for the complainant to file a response to the bail application.
In 2010, Yadav borrowed ₹5 crore from Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to fund his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata, which was unsuccessful at the box office. This led to financial difficulties and bounced cheques, resulting in legal action under the Negotiable Instruments Act, leaving him with a ₹2 crore debt.
Since his arrest, many Bollywood figures have publicly supported Yadav, including notable stars who have offered financial assistance. His manager confirmed that actors like Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn have reached out to help during this challenging time.
